Where Glyndŵr entered Abergavenny

It's said that a local woman let Owain Glyndŵr's rebel army into Abergavenny through a postern gate in the ...

town walls. She was sympathetic to his cause, but possibly didn't realise that the visitors would proceed to burn the town to the ground. Postern gates were small subsidiary entrances to walled towns, and this one was used by Abergavenny's women to wash clothes in the nearby Cibi Brook. The town walls have long gone and today K'aties Coffee Shop stands approximately on the site of the postern gate. Scan the QR codes in the shop window for more of the story, or click here.
