See the paintings you can't see!

Historic paintings adorn the interior of the Institute Building in Caernarfon, but the public rarely gets to see them. Now anyone can scan ...

the HistoryPoints QR codes in the windows to see a selection of the paintings on their phone or tablet, and read a short text explaining the significance of each image. The Institute is home to Royal Caernarfon Town Council, but as the rooms are often being hired out, it's impractical for the council to let the public view the paintings except during the annual Open Doors event. Our selection includes The Awakening of Wales (1911), Winston Churchill and others at the 1914 investiture of the Prince of Wales, and a 1906 portrait of a Constable of Caernarfon Castle who befriended US president Abraham Lincoln.
