Thatch'll do nicely in Wrexham

The government gave special protection to the thatched roof of the Horse & Jockey pub in Wrexham town centre ...

for the Second World War, enabling the roof to be protected against possible air raids. The building's historical importance had been acknowledged by the Wrexham Lager company, which acquired and restored it in 1938. For more about the pub's origins, the tragic story of the jockey it's named after, and a ghost called George, scan the HistoryPoints QR codes by the entrance. Or click here
