Punk v carols clash in Caerphilly

When the Sex Pistols were allowed to play at Caerphilly's Castle Cinema in December 1976, the audience was ...

outnumbered by the protestors singing Christmas carols outside. Most of the gigs in the Sex Pistols' UK tour were cancelled as councils responded to public indignation, but Caerphilly officials saw no reason to prevent the Castle Cinema performance. The cinema no longer exists, but you can read about it - including its wartime rebuilding so that American soldiers would have somewhere to go - by scanning the HistoryPoints QR codes in the windows of Brinsons estate agents.
