75 years since submarine tragedy

in action, and engineers from Cammell Laird of Birkenhead were on hand. The submarine couldn't resurface after its first dive, and 99 men drowned. Their bodies were removed after the sub was beached at Moelfre, Anglesey. The vessel went on to sink enemy ships in the Second World War before itself being sunk.
