Shrunk like Topsy at Porthmadog

Topsy, one of the world's first ever model railway locomotives to be powered by steam, is proudly displayed in Porthmadog, the town where an engineer used it ...

to entertain visitors on a track in his garden. The locomotive was built in 1869 as a miniaturised version of the steam locomotives which had recently started hauling slate wagons on the Ffestiniog Railway. You can now see it inside Spooner's Bar, at Porthmadog Harbour station. For more information about the model, scan the QR codes near the glass case. Or click here
