Village lost 5 men this day in 1915


Many people who visit the pretty village of Moelfre, Anglesey, pause to look at its war memorial. Now HistoryPoints enables them to discover that 5 of the 18 locals who died ...

in the First World War were lost on 6 June 1915 - 100 years ago today. The men were all serving on a ship which sank in the Irish Sea. The memorial gives only the names and local addresses of the war dead, but by scanning the QR codes to the right of the memorial with their smartphones or tablets, visitors and residents can discover when the men died and other details.
