Discover graves of training-ship boys

In Llandegfan churchyard, Anglesey, are the graves of more than 30 boys who died while inmates of the industrial training ship HMS Clio. One was killed by bullies, some ...

fell from masts, and others succumbed to disease in the confines of the old sailing ship. The first captain-superintendent was so concerned about the effect on the boys' health of the exposed mooring on the Menai Strait that he repeatedly asked for the ship to be moved, to no avail. To find the graves and read more about the ship and the boys, scan the HistoryPoints QR codes in the noticeboard near the churchyard entrance. Or click here
