Llandrindod's FWW stories on tap

The fascinating stories of buildings and other places in Llandrindod Wells during the First World War is now available to residents and visitors on their smartphones. Some 4,000 men of the Royal Army ...

Medical Corps were stationed there for training, replacing the usual tourists. Spa facilities became hospitals for rheumatic soldiers. Courts martial were held in the town, and conscientious objectors went before a tribunal. Belgian refugees were welcomed, and residents raised money for the Red Cross and Blue Cross (aiding war horses and dogs).

In conjunction with the Powys War Memorials Project, HistoryPoints has created QR codes for 18 locations in Llandrindod Wells which are linked in some way to the FWW. The web pages for most locations are joined together to form a FWW-themed circular tour. To take the tour, scan the QR codes at any of the featured places with your smartphone or tablet, then click "Next" after reading each text. Or click here for our introduction to the tour
