Menai Bridge grave stories revealed

Visitors to one of Wales’ most beautiful cemeteries can now use their mobiles to discover the fascinating stories of grave occupants. Our mini-tour of Church Island, Menai Bridge, will take you to the graves of 19 people who ...

represent many aspects of local history. They include the first keeper of Thomas Telford's Menai Suspension Bridge, the coroner who conducted inquests after the Royal Charter shipwreck and the professor who established Bangor University’s renowned marine science specialism. At the graves of two great poets, Cynan and Hugh Emyr Davies, you can listen to readings of their work. And thanks to local ensemble Pedwarawd y Fenai, at the grave of hymn writer Corfanydd you can hear the hymn which brought him fame in his teens. The mini-tour was created by HistoryPoints and the Friends of Church Island, with support form the Church in Wales and specialists in relevant aspects of history.
