A stranded Dolphin in Llanymynech

The border town of Llanymynech is about as far as you can get in Wales from the sea, so the Dolphin Inn is an odd ...

name for a local hostelry. The date 1517 is inscribed inside, and at one time the pub belonged to a member of the Godolphin family of Cornwall. Sidney Godolphin was sheriff of Montgomeryshire, governor of Gibraltar and MP for a Cornish constituency, among his other roles. Eventually the first syllable in the pub's name fell out of use, leaving us the Dolphin Inn. For more on this story scan the QR codes at the pub, or click here.
