Holyhead cenotaph - First World War Mercantile Marine, RAF and WRAF

Below are details of local people who lost their lives in the Mercantile Marine (later the Merchant Navy), the RAF and WRAF in the First World War. Many of the sailors worked on Holyhead passenger ships which were diverted to war use, or worked on RMS Leinster, torpedoed during a routine voyage across the Irish Sea. Parts of RMS Leinster and the anchor of the hospital ship Anglia form a memorial outside Holyhead Maritime Museum.
