Son of Joshua and Louisa Mellor (later Dicken), of Crown Lodge, Llannerch Road, Colwyn Bay. Born at Stoke-on-Trent. Died at the British Red Cross hospital, Valenciennes, of double pneumonia and septic infection of eyes, ears and side of face, due to severe frostbite whilst doing his military duties. Worked for Barclays Bank before the war.  Played the flute and performed with the Military Orchestra at theatres at Brussels and Lille.
