The following men from the Bridgend area died in active service after the Second World War

  • Evans, John, Fusilier. Died in Malaya, 13/10/1955 aged 20. Royal Welsh Fusiliers. Buried in Kuala Lumpur.
  • Nicholson, Gareth D, Guardsman. Killed in the Falkland IslandsĀ  08/06/1982 aged 19. Welsh Guards. Son of John and Beryl Nicholson. Also commemorated on the Falklands National Monument in Cardiff.
  • Pritchard, Dewi, Corporal. Killed in Basra, Iraq, 23/08/2003 aged 35. Royal Military Police (Territorial). Buried Nolton (St Mary) Churchyard. Son of Tony and Mair Pritchard; husband of Tracey; father of Kira and Ethan.
  • Barber, Craig, Private. Killed in Basra, Iraq, 06/08/2007 aged 20. The Royal Welsh. Funeral service was held at Coychurch Crematorium. Husband of Donna Barber; father of Bradley.
  • Elson, Dane, Lance Corporal. Killed in Helmand, Afghanistan, 05/07/2009 aged 22. Welsh Guards. Buried Salem Chapel, Pencoed.
