Ce monument rend hommage aux hommes de la région de Moelfre morts aux Première et Deuxième Guerres Mondiales. Pour découvrir de qui il s’agit, choisissez une catégorie ci-dessous

Sur une plaque à part, on nous dit qu’on a mis en place l’éclairage des rues de la région de Moelfre en l’honneur des autochtones morts à la Seconde Guerre Mondiale.

Cinq hommes parmi ceux nommés sur le mémorial sont morts le même jour de 1915, quand leur vapeur, SS Gertrude, est entré en collision  avec un paquebot dans la Mer d’Irlande, alors qu’il voyageait d’Ellesmere Port à Waterford.

Trois autres autochtones, y compris deux cousins, sont morts quand le cargo SS Lynburn a coulé en 1917, après avoir heurté une mine de fond posée dans la Mer d’Irlande par un sous-marin allemand.
