Old Colwyn war memorial

Old Colwyn war memorial is set into the perimeter wall of St Catherine’s Church. It commemorates people who died in active service or from war injuries in the First World War and Second World War. A plaque in memory of David Osborne, who died in the Falklands conflict in 1982, was added to the memorial in 2015.

Three brothers, sons of Thomas and Maria Jones of Preswylfa, are named on the memorial. They died within three months of each other in late 1918 – one died on Christmas Day while stationed in Greece over a month after the war’s end. Click here for our page in their memory.

With thanks to Stephen Binks and Diege Evans, and to Adrian Hughes of the Home Front Museum, Llandudno
