Bute Park Education Centre, Plant Nursery and Secret Garden Café
Look ahead, here is the Bute Park Education Centre, plant nursery and Secret Garden Cafe.
Did you know? The Education Centre is eco-friendly, the centre’s roof has solar panels to get energy from the sun and part of it is covered in grass!
Between 1906 and 1913 a walled garden was built behind the brick garden wall you see today. The Bute family gardeners grew fruit and vegetables for the family here. When the Bute family were at home in Scotland they often ate fruit and vegetables grown in their Cardiff garden. The gardeners would send the fruit and veg on the train!
Did you know? Thousands of plants are now grown at the plant nursery for the city and park.
MISSION COMPLETE! Well done for completing the trail!
Your star word is CHAMPION and you're a champion of Bute Park for completing the trail!
Here at Bute Park we have lots and lots of trees but what makes us extra special is we have more ‘champion trees’ than any other public park in the UK. If a tree is a ‘champion’ it means it is the biggest of its type in the whole of the country!!
A big thank you to the brilliant History Club at Ton yr Ywen Primary School for creating this fantastic Children's QR Discovery Trail. Thank you for all your hard work ☺
