The first Welsh-medium overspill
in a former primary school, so Ysgol Glan Clwyd moved to the former grammar school in St Asaph. And guess what? Pupil numbers outgrew that site too. The youngest children were taught at the former army camp at Bodelwyddan, several kilometres away, until a new Welsh school near Colwyn Bay eased the pressure. This became a familiar story in various parts of Wales as education authorities were surprised or annoyed by the rapid growth in demand for schooling through Welsh.
