Wilf Wooller's humble birthplace

Wilf Wooller, who excelled at rugby, cricket, squash and soccer, got a foot on the sporting ladder at Cambridge ...

University, where he won rugby and cricket Blues. Earlier he had attended the public school in Colwyn Bay. His birthplace, however, is not a picture of wealth and privilege - it's a small mid-terrace house in Rhos-on-Sea. He later captained the Wales rugby team and Glamorgan cricket. His sporting career was interrupted by years of wartime imprisonment at the notorious Changi jail in Singapore. After retiring as a player he was known as an outspoken sports broadcaster and writer.
