Mumbles lifeboat memorial QRs

If you've walked along the Wales Coast Path at Sker Point, Bridgend, you probably didn't realise there's a memorial ...

down on the rocky shoreline to the 47 sailors and lifeboat volunteers who were killed when the freighter Samtampa was wrecked in 1947. Now there's a HistoryPoints plaque beside the path, where you can scan QR codes to read details of the Mumbles lifeboat tragedy and see pictures of the plaque and Samtampa remains. The title on the plaque should alert walkers who don't carry a smartphone or tablet to the memorial's existence. Our thanks to the RNLI crew at Porthcawl, who suggested this HiPoint, and to Bridgend council for affixing the plaque. Anyone can read our web page about the memorial here.
