Defence of the Tudor realm
that the wall is a rare survivor from King Henry VIII's spending spree on coastal defences against the threat of French or Spanish invasion. The East Blockhouse was probably never completed, and wasn't in the right place for later generations to rebuild it for their defensive needs. Interestingly, the location is on the opposite side of the Milford Haven waterway to the spot where Henry VIII's father landed from exile in France in 1485, shortly before seizing the throne and establishing the Tudor dynasty.
