being tired out each time, he had a new church built at Trefriw c.1230 - in a much more accessible location at the bottom of the valley. It was rebuilt in the 15th and 16th centuries. Buried outside is a renowned Welsh bard who came from a poor family of tenant farmers but luckily got a basic education in the church school.
