Medical Corps were stationed there for training, replacing the usual tourists. Spa facilities became hospitals for rheumatic soldiers. Courts martial were held in the town, and conscientious objectors went before a tribunal. Belgian refugees were welcomed, and residents raised money for the Red Cross and Blue Cross (aiding war horses and dogs).

In conjunction with the Powys War Memorials Project, HistoryPoints has created QR codes for 18 locations in Llandrindod Wells which are linked in some way to the FWW.
