with the Powys War Memorials Project, with contributions from local historians and groups including the Breconshire Local & Family History Society. People whose stories you can read when you follow the trail include a member of the first Wales rugby team (killed in action in 1915), a pub landlord who waited almost two years for the news that his son had died in the Battle of the Somme, Breconshire's industrious "Land Girls", and an air ace who chased a car carrying German officers, firing his revolver instead of his plane’s machine gun to make the fight fairer. To follow the trail, scan any of the QR codes with your mobile and use the instructions below the text to find your way to the next location on the circuit. You'll eventually return to your starting point. To follow the trail virtually, click here to start at the Royal Welsh Museum.
