The ship that copied the Titanic
The Titanic disaster was fresh in everyone's minds when Y Gestiana started its maiden voyage over the ...
Atlantic Ocean in 1913. The schooner never reached its destination, but the shipwrecked crew all managed to scramble ashore at Nova Scotia, Canada. Y Gestiana turned out to be the last of hundreds of ships built in the Porthmadog area. A pub in the town has been renamed to commemorate the ship, and you can see a photo inside of Y Gestiana under construction.
