Hanging Tower's history revealed

Countless people have strolled along the former quay in Caernarfon without realising the Victorians moved the town's execution place to one of the towers there, part of the medieval town wall. Now a slate plaque and accompanying HistoryPoints QR codes ...

have been installed to help residents and visitors discover the gruesome story. Scanning the QR codes with a mobile phone reveals details of the men hanged there, and how a chapel deacon was forced - against his religious principles - to help make the scaffold for Caernarfon's last execution, in 1910. You can even discover how much the hangman was paid for that assignment. Our information about the tower is also available here
