Brunel bulldozed our village

Legendary engineer IK Brunel didn't do things in half measures. When he decided that Neyland should be the ...

main port for ferries to southern Ireland, the villagers were bought out and their homes demolished to make way for a quay and rail terminal. For 50 years the Pembrokeshire village flourished, but then the ships transferred to the Fishguard to Rosslare route. Neyland's rail facilities shrivelled, and closed outright in 1964. Since then the area has been transformed a second time, with the creation of a marina. To find out more, scan the QR codes around the marina area, or click here.
