towards Methodism caused trouble. He later encouraged Rev Thomas Charles to settle in Bala. Thomas was one of the main figures in the spread of Methodism across Wales, and his preaching drew crowds of 2,000 people. Plas-yn-Dre is now a restaurant and guest accommodation.
