The slate plaque here recalls a local celebrity who was known as Ted yr Ogof – which means “Ted the Cave”. His great granny and great grandad brought up 15 children while they lived in a cave near Llandudno!

Ted used to catch fish and sell them from a cart. In summer he used his fishing boat to take visitors on little sea trips.

From then on, the family was known as the “yr Ogof” family.
Ted used to catch fish in the sea and sell them from a cart in Llandudno. If you were on holiday here in summer, you could pay him some money and he would take you out on his fishing boat to show you the coast.
