Wilf Wooller's humble birthplace
University, where he won rugby and cricket Blues. Earlier he had attended the public school in Colwyn Bay. His birthplace, however, is not a picture of wealth and privilege - it's a small mid-terrace house in Rhos-on-Sea. He later captained the Wales rugby team and Glamorgan cricket. His sporting career was interrupted by years of wartime imprisonment at the notorious Changi jail in Singapore. After retiring as a player he was known as an outspoken sports broadcaster and writer.
