Sacred Doorways

The Sacred Doorways Project is a tourism initiative working with historic churches and chapels across rural Conwy, Denbighshire and Flintshire, to raise their profile as visitor attractions and encourage their sustainability through heritage tourism. The trails are neatly packaged into clusters for you to explore either by car or designated walking route.

From saints to sinners, princes to pilgrims, and bards to bandits, the trails will guide you through thousands of years of our fascinating history. Some of churches and chapels are prominent in the landscape, others are a little harder to find – perhaps nestling beside a meandering  river, down a remote country lane or even at the top of a mountain. Each church and chapel on the Sacred Doorways trail has a unique story to tell, and hidden treasures to find. They are open for you to explore - all you need to bring is your imagination.

The churches and chapels that take part in the Sacred Doorways Project are listed below. Click on a church name to go to the HistoryPoints web page about that church.
