Take our self-guided tour around Caerphilly to discover some of the town’s colourful characters and customs, from the red-headed Gilbert de Clare – who built the huge castle – onwards. You’ll find memorials to comedian Tommy Cooper, the poet who penned the words of the Welsh national anthem, and a record-breaking motorcyclist, among other places of interest. You’ll also see where farmers brought their crumbly home-made cheese to market – the famous Caerphilly Cheese.
