Pontllanfraith war memorial

This granite memorial, outside the Caerphilly County Borough Council offices, commemorates the local people who died in the First and Second World Wars. To discover who they were, choose a category below.

Among those named on the memorial is Ivor Jones, who fell in love with a Llandudno woman while training with his battalion in North Wales. They married in 1915 but Ivor was killed at the Battle of Mametz Wood in 1916, before having a chance to see his baby daughter.
