Postcards from Colwyn Bay

Phase 2 of the Colwyn Bay Waterfront Project included the installation in 2017 of 12 granite postcards, each depicting an interesting aspect of local history. Scan the HistoryPoints QR codes near each postcard to discover the story behind each one, or use the list below.

The Colwyn Bay Waterfront Project is renewing the sea defences along the promenade, while also introducing environmental improvements. It has received grants from the Welsh Government’s coastal defence fund, the European Union and Conwy County Borough Council.

The postcards are made from nine different types of granite, chosen for their differing colours. One type is from Penmaenmawr quarry, a short distance west of Colwyn Bay.
