Hawarden – Characters and Customs tour

Follow our tour around the centre of Hawarden to discover fascinating places and stories, some of them relating to Hawarden’s most famous resident, Prime Minister WE Gladstone. You’ll discover where Emma Hamilton, later Lord Nelson’s mistress and mother of his child, grew up, and the former home of a Lord Mayor of London who transformed European attitudes to British art in the 18th century. You’ll also see the shambles, where butchers traded, and the place where the Archbishop of Canterbury died in 1896.
