County School war memorial, Llangefni

The memorial in the grounds of the former County School commemorates the former pupils of the school who died in active service in the First World War. They were from communities across the island of Anglesey, including Brynsiencyn and Ty Croes in the west and Amlwch and Cemaes in the north. Two are listed as being from Liverpool – there were strong family ties between North Wales and Merseyside.

The memorial features a sculpture of a soldier with bowed head. It was created in 1921.
