Prestatyn war memorials
Inside and outside Christ Church are memorials to men from the area who died in active service during the First and Second World Wars. To read details of the people named on the memorials, please choose a category below.
Among those commemorated is Arthur Rowland Jones, who was First Officer on the liner Lusitania when it was torpedoed off Ireland by a German submarine in 1917 with the loss of almost 1,200 lives. He is buried at Christ Church, having been killed in 1918 when his cargo ship was torpedoed in the English Channel.
Our mini-tour of the churchyard features his grave and several other graves or memorials to local war dead.
