Link to French translationLlangollen war memorial

This memorial commemorates the people from Llangollen and the neighbouring Llantysilio parish (to the west) who died in the First and Second World Wars. For their details, please select a list below.

The memorial is of polished granite and features a Celtic cross. The names of the fallen from Llantysilio are listed on a separate face of the plinth. Llantysilio is sometimes written as Llandysilio or Llandysilio-yn-Iâl.

In 2018 the area around the memorial was remodeled and named Centenary Square, marking the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War. The name of nurse Edith Frances Barker was added to the war memorial. She died of illness in France in April 1918 while working with the Voluntary Aid Detachment.
