Aberystwyth – The Transport Heritage tour Aberystwyth is steeped in transport heritage. The harbour was once a bustle of vessels arriving and departing, with the ever-present risk of running aground - or worse - on the exposed approaches. Coaching inns were the termini of stagecoach services before the arrival of the railways triggered an increase in tourism, which begat the quirky cliff railway on Constitution Hill. The Vale of Rheidol Railway, offering scenic rides since 1902, still uses vintage Great Western Railway steam locos.
