Anti-vaxxers in 1876


During a smallpox outbreak in the Cwmbrân area in 1876, several parents were charged with not allowing the local doctor to vaccinate their children at his home, Cwmbrân House. One mother said the house, at Five Locks, was too far from the family home …

 

but was fined and ordered to take her child to Dr JS Cousins, who was also a talented violinist and cellist who mentored young musicians.
