Cardiff's bath feeder canal

The feeder canal which flows through Cardiff city centre didn't only keep the docks topped up - it also supplied the public baths at the south end of what's now Churchill Way. The baths opened in 1862, after improved sewage systems took the smelliest ...

pollution out of the feeder canal. The baths helped to improve hygiene for working families and enabled local boys who were destined to become sailors to learn to swim. The baths remained open until the 1980s.
