Prestatyn war memorials

Link to French translationPrestatyn war memorials

Inside and outside Christ Church are memorials to men from the area who died in active service during the First and Second World Wars.

Among those commemorated is Arthur Rowland Jones, who was First Officer on the liner Lusitania when it was torpedoed off Ireland by a German submarine in 1917 with the loss of almost 1,200 lives. He is buried at Christ Church, having been killed in 1918 when his cargo ship was torpedoed in the English Channel.
