Footnotes: Bangor Blue bus staff in 1927

The photo below shows men – and a woman – who worked for the Bangor Blue bus company in 1927, a few years before it was acquired by Crosville. Bangor Blue belonged to the era when many bus companies were named after the colour of their vehicles. Passengers could also travel on the buses of Llandudno-based North Wales Silver, Bethesda Grey or Purple Motors (also of Bethesda).

Bangor Blue’s regular routes stretched from Bangor to Caernarfon, Bethesda, Llanfairfechan, Menai Bridge and Betws-y-coed. Summer tours ran through Snowdonia and as far afield as Llangollen. In 1925 the company had 20 buses and coaches. A ticket from Bangor to Caernarfon cost 4d (four pence in pre-decimalisation currency) in 1923. Bangor Blue buses also carried parcels, for a minimum charge of 3d.
