Cofeb rhyfel Llansannan
Cofeb rhyfel Llansannan
Codwyd y gofeb hon ym 1922 i gofio’r dynion lleol a wasanaethodd yn y Rhyfel Byd Cyntaf, y rhai a oroesodd yn ogystal â’r meirw. Ychwanegwyd enwau’r meirw o’r Ail Ryfel Byd yn hwyrach.
Mae’r arysgrif canlynol ar y gofeb: ‘Cyfodwyd y golofn hon er anrhydedd i fechgyn dewrion Llannsannan a wasanaethodd eu brenin a’u gwlad yn y Rhyfel Mawr 1914-1919. Mewn anghof ni chant fod.’
Bu farw un o’r dynion a enwir ar y gofeb, sef Ail Is-gapten George Orme Smart, ar ôl i’w awyren gael ei saethu lawr gan y Barwn von Richthofen, y ‘Barwn Coch’ enwog.
